SFQL 2026-2027 Season

In effect we have lost one team as Casablanca and Formby Sports have merged to form Formby Bay Horse
At the June committee meeting it was decided to run one division initially starting on 7th/8th September with each team playing each other once
In the New Year the top 6 will compete for the first division title, the bottom 7 for the second division title - matches will start on 4th/5th January and finish on the 22nd/23rd March- there will be Handicap League this season

To fit in the two cup competitions (Don Standing Cup/Maurice Jefferies Plate and Handicap Cup) the following schedule is proposed - this will give time to arrange league fixtures for Division One and Two in the New Year

Cavallette have not entered either cup - the league matches on 9th/10th November when they have a blank week will double up as Round One of the Don Standing Cup - extra rounds will be included to cover the possibility of a tie

7/8th December - Quarter-Finals of the Don Standing/Maurice Jefferies

14th/15th December - Round One of the Handicap Cup

As MQL are not providing questions for league matches on 15th/16th February we will use those dates for the quarter finals of the Handicap Cup (NB MIMIR heats will be played on Wednesday 17th February)

The Semis and Finals of the Don Standing and Maurice Jefferies will be played on one evening on 30th March on the Tuesday at a single venue

Wednesday 7th April proposed for Presentation Night with semis and final of Handicap together with the Pairs Competition

Please note that the Zetland has changed hands and it is proposed to turn the room that Aardvark Zetland and E Street Band use into a kitchen in November - Aardvark Zetland have relocated to the Bold at Churchtown and will be know as Aardvark Bold - ESB may start the season at the Zetland but are on the lookout for a new venue
