Division 1

Casablanca kept in touch with leaders Wings, establishing an early lead at Zetland and finishing 5 ahead at 44 - 39 on the Monday questions with good scoring from Dave Dutton 17 and Ray Oakes 11, with Harry Owen 14 and John Clarke 10 leading for the home side. On the very unpopular Tuesday questions, Wings' powerful range and depth were able to bring them a 48 - 28 victory at Exams, with Dag Griffiths 17 and Keith Mulhearn 15 scoring particularly well, the team scoring 32 one - pointers to offset their miserable tally of 8 two -pointers and with the redoubtable Steve James leading with 11 for Exams. Formby Sports maintained their good run on the same questions with a 38 - 22 victory over Fishermen's Rest led by Sheila Tickle 17 and Bill Hodgson 10. Mixed Blues and E Street Band won one each of a double - header. In the regular match, E Street Band won 41 - 36 with good scoring from Dave Nickeas 15, Dave Twigge 11 and Alan Wright 10 with Claire Newberry 12 and Bill Morris 11 leading for the Blues. In the other, E Street Band led narrowly through much of the match only for Mixed Blues to snatch it 41 - 40 at the death, a win that might keep them in the division at the end of the season. Jim McGrath and Paul Tandy, both 11, and Bill Morris 10 led for the Blues and Alan Wright 18 and Dave Nickeas leading the Band.

Division 2

The Tuesday matches were a disaster zone with at least 30 unanswered questions in each and a high level of disgust at the standard of the questions. In the key "top of the table" match. Vikings defeated MPs 30 - 19 with Alan Martin 11 leading for Vikings. Led by Jack Gardner 13, Shifting Sands won 20 - 18 at home to Dismounted. Southport FC produced on of their better performances to win 30 - 12 at ExPats led by Mick Hopkins 11 and Geoff Wilde 10. On the Monday questions, Quads continued their recent improved form with a 28 - 25 victory at St Jeromes.

Merseyside Challenge Cup

Wings won all of their 3 group stage matches and go through to the knockout stages while plucky E Street Band lost all of theirs and were eliminated.
